Chiropractic Care For Lower Back Pain
Chiropractic care is a non-invasive and often more effective solution for addressing spinal issues and lower back pain. It's a more effective alternative to surgery and avoids the risks associated with it.
Many pain-sensing nerves in the spine are located in the facet joints, the interlocking “fingers” at the back of each spinal bone. These joints can become irritated and inflamed, leading to discomfort. Additionally, bulging or herniated discs can press on the spinal cord or nearby nerve roots, causing numbness, tingling, or pain down the leg.
WHY SURGERY MAY NOT BE THE BEST OPTION FOR LOWER BACK PAIN
Facet Joint Removal
Surgical procedures often remove facet joints, exposing the spinal cord and potentially creating further complications. This approach may not resolve the underlying issues and could lead to additional instability or pain.
Herniated Disc Surgery
Cutting away herniated disc tissue can permanently reduce the disc’s ability to cushion adjacent bones, and it rarely addresses the root cause of the issue. In some cases, the pain may return or shift to other areas of the spine.
Spinal Fusion
Spinal fusion surgery can involve fusing two or more vertebrae together, which restricts movement in that area of the spine. While this may reduce pain in the short term, it can place increased stress on neighboring vertebrae, leading to pain in other parts of the spine or a loss of flexibility.
